Dubbo Theatre Company Inc.

The Dubbo Theatre Company is a strong and vibrant group of variously talented people. We work as a cohesive team with a strong commitment to producing the highest quality theatrical productions possible within our time constraints, financial budget and available theatre space. Ask anyone in the Dubbo Community about the Dubbo Theatre Company Inc (informally known as DATS), and they will be able to rattle off the names of numerous well known Dubbo residents and former residents who have trodden the boards or been involved in some way with one of regional Australia's oldest community theatre groups. DATS membership has represented a huge cross section of the community and quite a number of our DATS members have gone on to very successful professional careers in the entertainment industry.

Dubbo Amateur Theatrical Society (as we were formerly known) evolved in 1957, when a group of enthusiasts, mostly from Trinity Players - a very proficient reading group, wished to enlarge their repertoire to include musicals, dramas and pantomimes (see our "History of Dubbo Theatre Company (D.A.T.S)"). In the 50 years following, the Dubbo Theatre Company has entertained audiences with a wide and varied smorgasbord of theatre styles; large scale musicals including world premieres with international dignitaries attending, the colourful and flamboyant Bull 'n' Bush productions, earthy theatre restaurants and melodramas with plenty of audience participation, revues, hilarious farces, contemporary comedies and drama, and of course our annual much anticipated colourful Christmas pantomimes.
